Commissioners' Park

The WT Group worked with the Hitchcock Design Group to renovate the former Aquarius Park site in Streamwood, Illinois into the new Commissioners’ Park. The improvements included construction of a new large playground, a new synthetic turf challenge course and 40 yard dash, basketball, tennis, and futsal courts, a new shelter, new restroom facilities, baggo sets, new walking paths with connections to the adjacent neighborhoods, and a new parking lot. The site is located within a floodplain and within a wetland area, requiring extensive stormwater management design as well as permitting with the Village of Streamwood, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, and the North Cook County Soil & Water Conservation District.
