Ocean Bank

WT Group’s Structural Engineering team provided design services for a new spaceframe canopy replacement at Ocean Bank near Miami International Airport.

The project featured the development of a lightweight, architecturally appealing structure supported by the existing building to achieve a modern aesthetic with minimal impact on the current framing system. Coordination with the FAA was essential to ensure compliance with airport airspace height restrictions.

Located within Florida’s High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), the design also addressed the rigorous wind load and impact resistance requirements outlined in the Florida Building Code, ensuring both safety and durability under extreme weather conditions.
